I know there is a lot of trash in the ocean but set an underwater trash collector and it will collect 500,000+ pieces in an hour or less even if there are 2 next to each other, both will have 500K + each in an hour. I have to admit the area is clean but emptying them is a chore and a half.

All I did was craft a garbage collector and place it right of the opening to the deep ocean from the Mer Kingdom. I placed 2 so their squares in green did not touch and off they went to collect trash.
Oops I am on a computer and just downloaded the game from Steam so I am on the latest and greatest version. Not sure how to give you a save file but if you give me steps I will send it to you. My input I think you want is mouse and keyboard.
I have a tail and the ocean is cleared if that helps.

Kindly compress the SaveGames folder into a ZIP file and send it here.

As additional information, I was watching a video on the Song of the Sea and the person making it had the same outlandish number of trash in her video so I am not the only one with the issue.

May I ask if you’ve tried placing the auto-trash in a different area to see if the issue still persists?
If possible, could you also send us a video showing when you place it and when the massive trash number appears?

Okay, with this one I crafted the vacuum while at the site. This one is at the last shell for Song of the Sea quest in the deepest part of the ocean. I crafted and put these 2 around the shell then checked to see what I needed to complete the quest. Since it requires cheese, I had to leave them overnight while I returned to land to make the cheese. When I came back they were in this condition with wood and glass around them and still a lot of trash to clean up manually. I emptied them with my inventory almost full and had to throw out a lot less trash. It still emptied them fully even with less inventory slots available. after completing the quest and after the cutscene, (which I enjoyed very much) they had about 7,000 trash even though I had mostly cleaned the area before the cutscene.
While I have your attention, can I make some suggestions as a player that really does enjoy your game?
