Are there 2 different types of sunflower as the summer gives sunflower but at the alter offering it wants one with a red dot on ?

the mark is for the quality. there are different qualities of the items. bronze, silver, gold, and osmium. it wants a bronze quality sunflower

here u see these: base, bronze, silver, gold, and osmium

some of the alter will ask for different quality of things and will not accept anything lower

(But the altar will accept higher! For some reason, a lot of people don't know that)

I always feel so bad for people who finally come to the chat asking how to get specifically a silver sardine, because they're catching higher quality ones and they don't think they count 😦

if ur just starting out try fertilizer. eventually u can upgrade seeds

do kow it IS still rng though

even though u use fertilizer and upgrade that does NOT mean it will be 100%
