There is a quest to give Jim a salmon between 5pm and 8pm but it only allows me to give him the salmon as a present and not to complete the quest. It is currently Spring 3, Year 3 in my save file and I have attempted this for most of the Winter Year 2 prior to this screenshot.

Apologies, I have logged off but I will provide that tomorrow! I am playing on Steam PC and if I had to guess, I have about 4-6 hearts with Jim. But I will send that tomorrow for confirmation

I believe you have to just got to the beach shack in that time frame with the salmon in your inventory. It should trigger a cut scene

I was initially at the beach shack and he began walking home around 4:40pm or 4:50pm so by 5pm he was already outside. But I am going to keep trying at the beach shack right at 5

I tried again but he is out of the shack by 5pm and it still only lets me gift it. I tried once and it really did only work as a gift, which he dislikes btw

Try to enter the beach shack after 5 pm. Heart scenes don't necessarily need the character to be there to trigger.

i finally got the cut scene @jade dirge @junior charm I am not sure what allowed it to work but i got the "new event" over their picture in the relationship panel and it worked

Hiya, it's as mentioned by @jade dirge (thank you for the help), the salmon can only be given as part of the heart event in the beach shack! I'm glad to hear that it has finally worked out for you 😉
