How many floors before I see the giant and is there a certain stone to look for, to jump to next level quicker?

Each mine (earth, water, wind, fire) has 40 floors with elevator and giants are at the bottom. Hole to the next level is in a random rock, you just need to break them and find. Sometimes there can be a pattern you can notice, early floors in earth mine only spawn holes in small rocks. Or there are by the entrance or by the ore, sometimes they can be in mystery rocks.
Upgrade your pickaxe and it will be easier to break rocks and take less stamina
