Hotbar randomly stops working on controller

Sometimes, the hotbar randomly stops working on controller. I don't know what triggers it or how it goes away, but this time:

• I harvested a bunch of things
• accidentally hit the "eat item" option, said "no" really fast
• opened the menu? (maybe, can't remember)
• suddenly, hotbar doesn't work at all. None of the triggers or the R stick do anything. I can see the pages attempting to move, but nothing happens.
• there's no longer any way to select a specific slot. I have to open the menu and move the tool to the currently selected slot in order to use it.

Disconnecting/reconnecting the controller doesn't help. At one point I kept playing and it fixed itself, but I don't know what the fix was (but I'm pretty sure it wasn't resting).

I'm on PC/steam, using a PS5 controller but switching to my xbox one controller didn't fix it either.

I did record a video. It's right up there. If you look at the hotbar, where it says "r", the up and down arrows will animate (becasue I'm pushing R up/down) but nothing else happens.

Sorry for the confusion! Just to clarify, a video from before the issue occurred would really help us identify what triggered it.

If you happen to have a video of that or if you could replicate the process, it would greatly assist us in the investigation 😉

I don't really know when it triggers and I don't want to be continously recording

I'm sorry to hear that, it must be really frustrating to deal with To help us further investigate the problem, could you screenshot your controller settings?

I didn't change any of the defaults. Originally I had xbox button layouts but I switched it to PS5 to see if it would fix anything (it did not)

I see 😲 Could you kindly confirm which item you nearly accidentally ate? Was it also a flower or did you almost eat any other type of forageable?

I think it was a beet--it's the item highlighted in the video.
