#Wireless ps5 controller does not work
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Hi @slow prawn. Thanks for sending in a report!
Could you clarify what you mean by "treated like an Xbox controller"? If you can share a video or screenshot of the issue, that would really help us understand what's going on!
@turbid heron My problem is not the glyphs
Steam has a thing called steam input. It even states (especially when the game doesn't support your controller) with a big warning box 'hey this is a compatibility mode and you'll have xbox glyphs' when you first launch the game with a playstation controller.
Often games will not even provide an override for glyphs.
But it also means other functionality of the controller doesn't work (i.e. the touch pad)
can you see if the video in this report shows your issue? https://discord.com/channels/623097219628662784/1265131092382584832
My preference is to turn steam input off.
Partly because glyphs, partly because functionality.
BUT! For whatever reason, the playstation driver or how it's implemented or something, special/separate work is required to detect and use the controller wirelessly. I'm not a game dev, but I've been bitten here enough times. Steam's controller compatability check has even shown me a dialog on other games saying 'this controller only works natively if wired', which is the case here.
Yes this is my exact issue. I would have expected exactly that result if I'd grabbed a PS4 controller, but I like the PS5 one so much more.
I would be disappointed, but willing to accept the fix as 'ticking the box in steam saying it's only compatible with playstation controllers in wired mode'
Given you have multiplayer on the way, and the glyphs setting is probably not per-controller (as a family of four who would play this game in a heartbeat, we have numerous different contollers with different glyph mappings and we all have different preferences). The ideal is to support the controller properly, so I can put the glyphs setting back to auto.
