Hi guys i was at depth 23 and could.nt find a hole any ideas?

Pretty sure you can use a rope there. Haven't been to the Cave of Memories myself, but if it functions like the mine, it should work.

sometimes its under the mesh. best to take rope just in case

Also break giant crops with axe or mushroom trees, they can hide under.
And tip - mystery rocks can sometimes hide extra hole. You will encounter floors with monsters only, if you don't want to fight and save rope - break mystery rocks.

I also noticed sometimes a stone/stump etc can hide under the glowing mushroom decor - just bomb everything or use a rope
