I believe they are referring to just taking a chance in the add enhancement choice instead of clicking over to increasing the percentage of enhancements you already have. Those can cost up to 400 before I realized it wasn't worth it. So, I just put my pickaxe in and kept doing the enhance option where it only needs 100. I definitely ended up wasting quite a bit when an enhancement came up that I didn't want to 'learn.' However, I found the magic ticket for getting the final museum things I needed was to have hit drop, extra drop, and rare drop on my scythe and pickaxe, and then once I had those I kept putting my already donated things (fossils, gems, artifacts) into that 100 cost add enhancement in hopes the percentages would go up. Does that make sense?
Hit drop, extra drop, rare drop, maximize this, use accessory for rare items. And I found it better for me to hit every rock without using explosion. Oh! And usually savannah drops way more geode than the mine! Good luck!
- I can second that doing the "add enhancement" roll for 100 each time is way cheaper, and way easier access. You don't have to hope you have heavy enough enchantment points to add all up to 200, 300, 400 points... just 100 and a roll each time.
- Once I got the Slime of Replication I made a note of which items had 70 or 100 points to them, and started tucking those aside specifically with the intent to duplicate them for easier enchantment boosting, but it can take a bit to get your hands on one of those.
- Within the mines, not sure for Savannah, but I have heard (and experienced myself) that there seems to be increased geode drop rate lower in the mines, so I tend to go to level 30, and really I tend to start hitting every rock around level 35 onward, depending on the amount of time I have in the day and the amount of food I've taken with me.
