If I talk to the townies exactly on the date of a festival, they give dialogue as if it was the day before the festival. This happens to all townies and all festivals.
Here is my most current example (Cherry Blossom, Spring 10th):
I talk to Eleanor and the she talks to me as if the Cherry Blossom festival was TOMORROW. In the next screenshot you can see that actually TODAY is the 10th, the day of the festival.
