How am i supposed to heal the coral tree? I went to Se Pulu cave to try to get solar orbs but there were none... what am i supposed to do

Caves are for trash and farming fossils and coffers.
To heal the tree first of all you need to heal all of the ocean. To reach merfolk kingdom you've healed 20m and 30m depths. Now you need to move farther to 40m and 50m and heal there.

You can literally only benefit from getting a better scythe, is what I'm saying

Here is a breakdown - on the 40m area, where gold kelp is, with bronze and silver scythe it will take at least 2 hits to break trash. With gold - 1 hit.
On the osmium area (50m) gold scythe takes 2-3 hits, don't remember exactly. And osmium - 1. And here I would definitely recommend upgrading to osmium scythe, since beacons are very far away from they shrines and you will have to clear a big area.
