I've not done beta testings before so excuse my ignorance. Will the beta testing be done on a current game or is it just a new game every time you launch coral island? I'm worried about losing game progress if something goes wrong with the beta testing. Thank you!

Think of it as a parallel dimension. You download the beta branch, make a new save, and when the beta is over that dimension closes. You go back to your regular main branch save.

You can switch back and forth at any time, you just have to redownload the game each time. When the beta is over, it will eventually kick you out, but it's usually faster to manually switch back
