I'm playing with my friend with just one pc so playing with them couch coop/split screen is the only way for us to play. Is it available in the future road map?

But it's gonna be finnally? It was in streched goals: "We will be implementing several modes, including 4 player online farms and couch co-op, to name a few."

I don't recall couch co-op ever being mentioned by devs in server;
That one line seems to be from an article sent way back in 2021

We don't have it planned so far🙏

It’s not on this current to do list / active workload (as per CM note above)

The currently in development for 1.2 update Multiplayer feature is only for Online (with each intended Player having own copy of game)

Seriously? I was sure there would be a split screen in 1.2. What a disappointment. My family was already bored with Stardew Valley, so we were counting on Coral Island. And there is no alternative yet. I hope that Sunkissed City will be released this year and that split screen will be available at the beginning

I was under the same impression both earlier on and on recent announcements that coop(something people from the majority of stardew players playing, enjoy to play with their family members including me, wanted) was planned and as far as im aware, i was certain i saw someone ask about Splitscreen being available during testing and even then was under the impression the intention was to make it so. Now its not planned? I wont even buy the game now if its not going to have splitscreen. I enjoy playing on my tv on off days with my wife and thats something we even do in other games with splitscreen enabled. I really hope this is a joke and know someone will be tempted to give a sassy/simple response saying "they said no so it means no or just dont play"

Hi everyone, right now, we’re focused on developing the online multiplayer mode.
We initially thought we could include both online and couch co-op, but it turned out that working on both at the same time would be too resource intensive.
If we get the chance in the future, we’d love to add a couch co-op mode 🙏

Thank god I could play the early, atrocious Xbox game pass version for free and didn’t buy it in prospect of the through the stretch goals promised local coop mode. Proves once more that kickstarter stinks

...I can't tell if that last line is sarcastic or genuine, so I'll treat it as genuine.
We got a concrete reason as to why: it was too resource intensive to try to juggle both. And I'd rather them focus on one than deliver both poorly because they tried to spread themselves too thin.
It's a goal they still want to work towards, and I'd say it's not the first time the team has said that - and I've yet to see a reason to treat it as Soon™️ (aka when pigs fly) because they're also clear, even when there's complaints, on when they AREN'T delivering something. Whether they just can't, or just won't. This team communicates.
It's also a small team, that to my understanding, was working largely with Humble Games to port the game over to consoles... so maybe grant them some grace compared to a major corp like Activision? There's a LOT to work on behind the scenes in games
