If I use explosives, can I still get fossil nodes from stones?

I've been wondering about this since the wikia states in some cases (fossil nodes being one of them) that they can drop by "destroying [something] with [tool]". I believe scrap and treasure chests are also part of this.

So I wondered if explosives (and those underwater-things that I forgot the name of) will make stones drop those things at all? I've tried to use them, but it didn't give me any, but I wondered if that was just luck based, as I also have rare drop etc on my weapons which does affect the drop rate.

So, yeah, idk, I hope this question makes sense!

tl;dr: Will all items drop from using explosives or can I only get certain items by using my tools?

You can, but you won't get as much as you would with a pick. Explosives do not take any enchantments or perks into account.
