Since the latest update, my gold scythe disappeared. Not at the blacksmith (I am able to upgrade other tools), not able to be retrieved (game was able to retrieve other tools).
Game version: November 20 "Quality of Life" update. v1.1b-1230
Platform: PC. Keyboard and mouse.

Do you remember upgrading your scythe before the update? Can you try sleeping for a few days in the game to see if the notification for your scythe’s completed upgrade appears? 😮

Could be! Thank you for your quick reply. I tried going to the blacksmith and seeing if I could upgrade other tools, because that is normally not possible when another one is still being upgraded. I could succesfully put another tool up for upgrading strangely enough and assumed the scythe couldn't be there. I've reset that day, and will follow your advise. Is it advised to wait with upgrading any tools meanwhile?
Actually I thought I already had an osmium scythe! So strange haha.

Yes yes, the actual bug is that you can upgrade your tools while the previous ones are still in the upgrade process. Our team is already aware of this bug and is actively working on a fix. Please rest assured, we are on it!

Your tip worked! The new upgrades are nice btw! The mines have got an appeal again and it's wholesome to help Sam.
