I tried tilled, untilled, tilled 3x3, untilled 3x3 and nothing is letting me put town a tree. The fruit plants worked fine, but not the trees

I removed the sprinklers and it lets me put them down, but not here - why? It says the surrounding 8 spaces are needed, has that been doubled? This should count as the 8 surrounding spaces being open/free
Im not going to save this day since I would have wasted my fruit plants if this set up cant work

You have to move them farther in. It has always been this way for the fruit trees.

It does it in the greenhouse and on the farm, as well. you can't plant against the outside row of farmland

I have paths on the outside of the farm so never had a problem there
It is odd that only trees are affected by this, though. Is there a reason why?

Not that the devs have ever said. it's just weird. You can decorate or plant other things around the tree once it's planted, though

Why now? It is 2 away from the sides and has all 8 surrounding spaces open... Not a single sprinkler on the ground
Having to reset the day again because the trees needs do not match the description is not fun
