Hello @static sentinel. May I ask if you’ve tried loading the Backup save files? You can do this by following these steps:

  • Go to Settings and select the Game category.
  • Scroll down to find Show Backup and set it to Yes.
  • When loading the game, check the Show Backup box in the corner.

Let us know how it goes! Aand, if you have mods installed, can you tell us what type of mods you used?

I'm getting the same Mushroom Log error with a bunch of mods from Nexus installed. I was able to roll back to the previous version of the game (1126) and play one day just to delete the mushroom log then save. I've just now replaced the game files with the updated version (1129), mods installed, and it seems to be working fine. With mods/devs permission @south shadow I could write up a tutorial?

Hi hi! At this time, Coral Island does not officially support mods. If you’re using mods and experience any issues, we won’t be able to provide any support or any suggestions.

We only can recommend disabling the mods first and checking if the problem persists before reporting it. Thank you for your understanding, everyone! 😊 ✨

Oh, don't worry, my game is fine and I didn't use mods! 😄 Thanks for trying to help tho! 🤗
I just wanted to know how to revert to previous version (not save) of the game, that doesn't have option for it in Beta Participation (Steam).

Sometimes even going back to old save doesn't work after the game has updated, the save file may brick/corrupted due to old mods keeping it's data in the save file which cause the game not able to recognise the save anymore, even deleting the mods afterwards may not help. When this happened, you need to go to previous version > remove the mod > save the game, then you can update the game and play normally. This is why some Devs add previous branch/version of their game in Beta, in case player had their save files corrupted.

Unfortunately for Coral Island, there's no option to revert previous version, you need to download through Depot in Steamdb but I'm not entirely sure how the process. So here I am asking how Kelsey do that since I'm not quite familiar with the process.

# mint sinew Oh, don't worry, my game is fine and I didn't use mods! 😄 Thanks for trying to ...

Downloading through SteamDB is exactly what I did! I actually used this tutorial https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3023295121 even though it's actually for BG3. I only went up to step 5.

(TLDR: steam://nav/console
download_depot 1158160 1158161 2001365928873932806
steamapps/content/app_1158160/depot_1158161)

I then moved everything in steamapps/common/Coral Island into a folder elsewhere that I named 'backup of updated version', moved the downloaded version from SteamDB into the steamapps/common/Coral Island folder, (added my mods and the -fileopenlog bit in steam) then restarted my computer before launching the game.

Game launched fine and I could see it was build 1226. I played one day and deleted the mushroom log, then made sure it saved.

Updating to the updated version again was as simple as deleting or moving the contents of steamapps/common/Coral Island and replacing it with the version I'd moved earlier. I launched the game again and it's worked fine since. Let me know if there are any questions!
