So Coral Island is leaving the Xbox Game Pass. I might not be able to buy the game in time before it leaves. Will I lose my game progress/save if I don't own the game on Xbox? (I will not be buying the Steam version, I mean just for the Xbox PC version)

Xbox does cloud saves, so you can buy the game at a later time if you purchase it via the Xbox app on PC. I've done this with hundreds of games for PC on the Xbox app that after "trying before I buy" thanks to Game Pass.
