How do you farmers store things in a good way?

Is this makeshift chest made of wood and trash the only way to store things?

I am now in fall year 1 and I already have 13 chests laying on the ground. I found it quite annoying to remember what I put in for each chest and look in them each time to find things properly..

I bought furnitures named "storage" but sadly they aren't able to store things

Or should I just sell most of the things I gained until I get some other methods for storage?

There are other chests you can make as you level up that have 40 slots. Most of us have chests all over the place. You can rename them to help figure out what’s in them without opening them.

You can also name the chest and when you hover (if you're using mouse and keyboard) on the chest you can see the chest name!

I have some by my house, some near my animals, some near my machines, some near my field.
