Hello teddyy! Thank you for your report here. May I ask if there are any new things that you've developed on the Farm before the lag occurs? Or you have changed anything on your Farm? 😮

Oh, and have you changed the graphics card used to the High Performance one for Coral Island?

Here are the detailed steps [you can also check the screenshot attached]:

  • Type "Graphics Settings" in the Start menu
  • Click Desktop App
  • Select the Coral Island application
  • Click Options
  • Set the Graphic preference to High Performance

This is what happened to me sometime a little after the tool upgrade...it was maybe a couple days after it....I logged out and have been waiting to see if it's changed ...but the last time i logged in it was the same issue.

I will post the relevant information when I can a little later

In case this is helpful for anyone, I wanted to post a workaround I discovered.
I was having nauseating frame rate issues and did a bunch of testing using system monitor widgets to track CPU, GPU, RAM and VRAM usage while playing and modifying different settings.

I discovered that the only setting in graphics settings that seemed to have a really severe impact on the laggy FPS issue was 'view distance'

With that on low and everything else on high or ultra my game looks pretty much the same, but runs much smoother. I'm not even sure what view distance does in a game like this and couldn't detect any visual difference by changing it while in game.

Caveates:

  • There is still a little lag spike/frame rate stutter when changing locations/ending cut scenes, but it passes quickly enough that it doesn't give motion sickness in my case.
  • The longest I tested this for was for the first 7 days in game, so I don't know if this will help people who have large, active farms, lots of animals, or just older save files.
  • I have been playing only one day at a time and restarting the game between each day because I don't want to risk losing progress due to a crash or too much lag after multiple days without restarting
  • I have a powerful gaming PC (Ryzen 5, RTX 3070), mileage may vary on less powerful machines
  • I'm playing on Linux with the latest version of Proton-GE, I don't know if this advice will help people on stock standard proton, steam deck, windows PC, xbox etc at all.

These problems are old; others and I are already tired of reporting them. The game support team seems to act like a bot, with generic questions and responses. Unfortunately, I have to say that this is never going to be fixed. Oh, and all the reported performance issues happen on both PC and consoles.

Going to do a recording today when I can... it was super laggy and stuttering before so it's really a welcome change...I wonder (this is a long shot) but does your computer need to run any updates?
