(Bad pic sorry) My character has the visual effect of a weapon being swung, even when no weapon is in inventory, Npcs are reacting as if i have weapon in hand.... im worried it will effect their friendship levels

Shutting and reopening game fixed it, but still keep post up incase theres a solution

I think it started after i got flameguard greatsword from fire mines, only noticed when Connors dialog asked me to put weapon away

Same thing is happening to me (Steam PC). Multiple NPC on multiple locations. It doesn't matter what combination of items I have in my inventory, as long as my sword is one of those items, there's a change they'll react to it even if it's not equipped. This was the first time I was able to actually get a screenshot of it.

I had my bug net equipped this time. I'm not sure what I had equipped before.

i have this issue as well! a lot of people will ask if the weapon is real, or to be careful around people with it while i’m holding other items (forage,scythe,cooking items etc)

Another weapon dialog triggered at the blacksmith. Once again, was holding the bug net.

I also have this bug but on PC, also only started happening after I got the flameguard greatsword, it consistently happens on the first interaction with any NPC in the day, second interaction generally allows normal dialogue.

I also use the flameguard sword but have had it for so long I hardly remember if that was when it started - but I do also experience this bug. Casually shopping and Sam just telling me to put my weapon away is one example! I also remember one of the kids (archie?) and pablo commenting.

If I do not have any weapons in my inventory I no longer get the issue, if it is in my inventory period I will get the weapon dialogue

I have been having this issue on PC as well. Even if I don't have a weapon in my inventory I still get the weapon dialogue.

New save, same problem. The weapon was in my inventory but it wasn't equippd

I've been having this same bug. I do have my weapons in my inventory but not selected, and people react like I do. I'm playing on PC thru xbox. After looking around online I saw a lot of people playing on steamdeck bringing this issue up, as well.
