museum progress stuck

I'm getting really tired when I have to keep collecting fossils and chests and the game just refuses me to give me the items that I need. I am almost at the end of year 3 and I am still missing 3 fossils and 5 artifacts. Is there any way to make this progress faster? I am even open to the use of mods if possible because this is getting really boring. Thank you
