How can I unlock the Savannah? I’ve checked the wiki but maybe I’m not understanding it correctly?

Also, is there another way of acquiring hardwood other than the logs?

"How do I access the Savannah?"
The Savannah area unlocks after completing 18 offering bundles
You must break the rock by Anne and Paul's House
Free the giants and see their cut scene about Gort

"How do I get hardwood?"
on the farm - blow up fallen logs with explosives/use gold axe
off the farm - silver axe is enough to cut logs
6 offerings will open the mid forest and you'll get a log every day
14 offerings will open the deep forest with more logs and hardwood trees to cut down
