Last updated introduced a lot of lag on ps5 specially on my farm if it’s full. Also the cooking menu in the kitchen takes ages to open.

There is also noticable more lag and rubberbanding on the Steam version 1.1-1225.

If I had to make a guess, I'd say it has something to do with farm animals.

I played my first Ingame year with crops only and started to get into faem animal in year 2. Thats when the lag started to grow.

I'm currently in fall of year 2 with two full barns and also two full coops and it's getting quite spicy on the frames.

Lag is mostly noticable when

• game is saving over night
• I leave the house to start the day
• returning to the farm at end of the day

Just want to start by saying I LOVE this game, could play the heck out of it and have gotten my friend into it as well but I'm also having serious lag issues on the PS5 which will in time make it unplayable if not fixed.

Attached is a video, lagging from the start of the vid and at approx 56 seconds has a complete freeze before starting up again and playing more or less normally.

This lag is now a constant issue especially when on my farm, but does also occur off the farm. As stated above, the cooking menu also takes ages to open though not in the attached vid.

May I ask how many hours (IRL) you played before the lag happened? Did it happen after you crafted some items and decorated the Farm?
Could you also share the screenshots or video of your in-game Display Settings as well?

Hours played before lag = unsure, maybe 100 hours but don't feel it's related to play time.

Happen after any specific event? = I can't think of anything no, I just think it was after I expanded my farm to hold a lot more crops...I suppose that counts as happening after I decorated my farm, but I assumed it was because I went from minimal crops to a huge crop area. Example = I went from about an area of 320 single space crops (plus 1 barn, coop, greenhouse and small level tree planting) to about 1600 crops (plus the same other bits above).

Does the lag issue start happening after playing for about 1-2 hours in real-time, MattMoz?
Could you also share your screenshots of the Display Settings? You can go to Settings and press R2 to the Display settings details.

Also, regarding your farm, do you happen to have a screenshot of your Farm View when you had an area with 320 crops?
If possible, could you share a screenshot of your current Farm View as well? It would really help us out! Thank you so much!

The game is experiencing a lot of stuttering on both my PC and PS5. Initially, I bought the game on Steam, but after just a few minutes of gameplay, I noticed it was full of stuttering issues. My setup is a Ryzen 9 5900X, 32 GB of RAM, and a 12 GB RTX 3060.

After seeing these issues on PC, I decided to buy the PS5 version, hoping it would run smoothly. Unfortunately, I was wrong—the game is also plagued by stuttering on the PS5.

On PC, I understand that optimizing for all the different hardware combinations is challenging. But on a console, where everyone has the same hardware, this is really strange. It makes me wonder if you’re properly testing the game before releasing it… 🤔

Here are some slow-motion screenshots to better highlight the issue. The same thing is happening on both the PC and the PS5.

I suspect that the game is loading all the assets of an area at once, which overwhelms the engine and causes the terrible stuttering.

In this thread, can we discuss specifically for the lag in PS5?
Do you happen to have a video of the issue while you're playing via PS5? May I ask how many hours (in real-time) you played when the issue happened?

Additionally, could you please share some screenshots or videos of your in-game Display Settings and your Farm as well? Thank you so much!

How long into loading game does lag occur? = There is no pattern that I see, sometimes can be almost instant, other times 30 mins? I don't see a pattern here.

Do I have a screenshot of smaller 320 crops farm? = I'm afraid not no

Screenshot of current farm = see attached (note that it's harvest day so all my crops need to be refilled, but you can see where they all go, plus I reduced crop.size slightly for a bigger animal grazing area (but plan to expand crops out to the left more) and I am yet to expand to the south but plan to.

Display settings screenshot = see attached, but ps5 doesn't have any settings other than brightness here which is why I didn't include it before.

See attached for vid (note it generally seems to be running fine for now in the vid)

• starts with farm map overview
• then to greenhouse, no crops in harvesters (all in chests). I go through every chest so you can see.
• then to barn & coop. I go through auto harvester and chests so you can see.
• I think then I go to one crop field which has some crops in the harvester, but this is the only one on my map with crops to be harvested. Everything else is planted and growing.
• then to shed no 2. I go through auto chests so you can see. Note I had a separate issue here yesterday but have not logged as I cannot prove it, but 400 osmium melons disappeared from the auto chests connected to the kegs (they did not get converted to juice, just disappeared)
• then to shed no 1. I go through each auto chest so you can see

I have not unlocked cellar yet.

Last note - I have also not logged this as again have no proof, but my game has started crashing. It has happened 3 times since my last post on 11/09/2024

Thank you so much for the detailed information, MattMoz! Could you clarify if the lag shown in the first video you shared occurs when Fertilizer, Seeds, or Harvesting are triggered by the Auto SFH on your Sprinklers?

I sometimes experience a lag when the auto SFH seeds, I assume due to the animation on multiple sprinklers.

I also got a noticeable lag when I placed two horse shaped hedge decorations onto the farm.

I also often get the lag when buying a large qty of a seed from the store.

But honestly, the lag doesn't have much of a pattern and just occurs on or off the farm, in or out of backpack. I can't really forsee when it will happen.

On the first video, none of the sprinklers were going, I was just trying to put down a decoration

@tropic mist they won't fix these issues. Unfortunately, game optimization doesn't seem to be a priority for them. It's disappointing because the game has a lot of potential, but optimization clearly isn't on their backlog. The same goes for several other reported bugs, which are also being ignored. You'll notice that all their responses are generic, like humans pretending to be bots.

Yes, we have received multiple reports regarding the lag issue, even the one @winter sedge has provided in another thread!

We are still actively trying to pinpoint the source of the issue and trying to fix it, unfortunately, this can be a little tricky and sometimes might takes longer to fix. We totally understand the frustration, but please hang in there, yeah? Rest assured that we will do our best to address all the issues you reported to us🙏

Yeah I'm not one to just assume nothing will be done, I'd prefer to submit whatever I can and wait and see...then they have all the info I can provide to try to replicate.

I'll hold back judgement until development has fully finished.

Hey, @tropic mist... it's been a month since we last talked, and it looks like nothing has been done about the issues we reported. As I mentioned before, it feels like this might never get resolved.

Well, that’s it, everyone. Support is just a script where they copy and paste responses—everything is very generic. We've sent multiple reports about the same issue, and it still hasn’t been fixed to this day.
