OH! This may also help, on a different save I have (0ne i started before the merfolk update) I am still able to enter the Abandoned Villa. I should note that the old save I just mentioned does crash shortly after loading it (which isn't a big deal since it's an old save) but I managed to get my character to the inside of the villa and then exit to the main title before it did.

I can confirm that I am also experiencing this exact same bug.

At first I thought it was because I was still in Year 1, but now I'm not so sure.
