How do I cut down the giant log in the upper forest

Trying to get rid of the log in front of the ||mysterious door that I assume is what you need to find the master slime|| but my gold axe isn't enough and the wiki says that the osmium axe cuts everything the gold axe can, just in less time. Am I missing something?

that one log at the front of the door is special, you need osmium axe to break it

hardwood outside your farm = need silver axe
at farm = need gold axe
