Tools reverted back from gold.

After a small update today upon opening my game i realised that my tools had reverted from gold quality back down to bronze or their original forms. a bunch of random items also appeared in my inventory. this happened on steam version 1.1. Input mode; keyboard and mouse

also let it be known that I am really upset that I may have to re-upgrade all of my tools.

Exact same thing happened to me, just opened the game and all the tools that were in my main hotbar were replaced with the basic versions. I went to the blacksmith to try and recover them but it just gives me the same tools (non-gold). I also would like to note that my hotbar had stuff that it didnt have in it before, but that I would have had if I were year one.
