Multiple Partners?

So I heard that you can date multiple people in the game, which is awesome since I like to romance multiple people (both cause I'm poly irl and am extremely indecisive). However, I heard that there's going to be an update that either changes that or adds a consequence - is that true? I really hope not, but I'd like to know ahead of time. Thank you ^^

we've never been told of a consequence. unless you see something from stairway specifically- dont believe anything
