#console patching

Due to them seeking legal advise and already under nda with switch, they probably can't legally say anything about consoles right now. With stairway having no connection to the backend with consoles, it's probably higher ups and legal in communication with what they can and can't do. Most we can do is sit back and hopefully they come out successful. Once they are able to talk they will 🙂
Obvs it's a really complex issue for them to deal with, but it would still be helpful to have updates even if those updates are "we're still trying but we can't say anything else, hang tight" - if nothing else, simply to let us know that they're working on it and they have hope. I think a lot of people feel like the game on console is going to be abandoned, so updates informing us that it hasn't been abandoned yet would be very reassuring
Esp when the twitter feed is sometimes inconsistent - there was a tweet the other day which implied that the console issue was being resolved soon and that the reason we weren't seeing patches on console yet was simply that they were doing everything on PC first
They have an NDA. They literally can't. We KNOW they are trying. They told us they have to get their lawyers involved. They're not going to do updates every day saying "still working on it". The engage with people on platforms and do that.
The NDA extremely limits what they can and can't do.
I see comments on their social media ressuring people
Their experiences though? It doesn't matter what they do or where they post or what they say- people just don't read it
I mean the dev diary is literally daily updates which are essentially "still working on it" for PC, but i wasn't suggesting they should update us daily anyway and that was a slightly disingenuous interpretation of what i said. What I meant is that it's difficult when everything said here is just hearsay – we don't actually know they are trying, we don't actually know their NDA restricts what they can say regarding patches for the existing console releases only that they have one which restricts what they can say about the Switch port and 'many different things,' we don't know that they have hope it'll ever be resolved (a common assumption I see repeated here a lot).
The only official communication we have is from a time of complete and utter uncertainty, so the further out we get from that the more people are wondering if there's any news, and the more conflicting rumours spread around. The fact they're posting things on SM which imply the situation has changed since then doesn't help, honestly, because no one is going to stalk their replies to analyse every comment, so instead they come here and ask - and hope that someone here has seen an unofficial comment with more info.
A huge amount of that uncertainty could be resolved by adding a 1 sentence update to the weekly cycle of dev updates they already put out. "we had more meetings with our lawyers this week about consoles", "things with console are proving very difficult", etc. It would also give people like you a place to direct people when they're asking about console updates.
Again- people don't read it so it wouldn't matter. They haven't in the past, why bother now?
They've been saying the same stuff about the game for years and people STILL don't read the stuff that's been out since 2021. It's a moot point. There's no reason to because people believe what they want over facts
Ivr been in this discord almost 2 years with a small break of a month. They're doing what they know works. People never read their updates anyways
I disagree that people wouldn't read it, but anything would be better than hearsay and assumptions, at the very least
oh BOY would people not read it. The devs give so much information and people either don't read it or misread it and then spread the misinformation. That's also why we get so many people asking the same questions every couple of minutes, and why we get so many duplicate bug posts without the template filled out
I'd argue that's another good reason for them to give central updates, so that you could have something to send people to rather than pure speculation
People are surely even less likely to read through every reply on all their SM platforms (which is where we're getting vague implied updates from), or to search and read through old conversations here
they do. this is posted all over. and we post it again when people ask. All backers were also sent information in emails. it was also on twitter
that's all we need right now. They don't need to post 'we'll keep you posted' every day. when they have more information, the'll tell us
Which like I said, is from a time when no one knew anything about the situation. Since then there has been lots of rumour and hearsay repeated as fact, and they've implied on SM that there is more information. The more time goes on, the more people are gonna think "I wonder how that's going" - which is why so many people are asking the question. A simple "console players, we're hopeful it'll get resolved eventually" when they publish a patch would be better than drip-feeding information through twitter replies
Eg I came here cos I saw a reply saying they're fixing the build on steam "before pushing it to consoles" in order for patches to be "more stable" - which heavily implies that they CAN push to consoles and anticipate doing so. That's a gigantic update from where we were before
It’s been like 2 weeks (10 working days). These things don’t happen over night. When they have info for an announcement they’ll make an announcement. Maybe something will be in the dev blog at the end of the month. Maybe something will come this week or next. I guess what people want is them to essentially copy and paste a “we have no new information about consoles” every day…
Like I said several times, I wasn't suggesting they update us every day and that's a disingenuous interpretation. What I'm trying to say is that a huge amount of the uncertainty people have could be resolved by adding a 1 sentence update to the weekly cycle of dev updates that they already put out.
