Lighting on the Arcana Tail still causing GPU performance hit

Ever since the lighting effects were added onto the Arcana Tail, it has caused my GPU (2080ti) to reach temps over 70°. This is the only time in the game where my GPU even comes close to reaching this temp. This was not an issue in V 1.1-1198 when there were no lighting effects associated with the tail. I understand that an update was made to fix this, but unfortunately I don't think it fixed the issue.

I believe this is also an issue for me as well. After the new update to v1.1-1225, I am on the day where I choose my tail for the first time and I have been choosing the sparkly tail. By the time I am leaving the Oracle, my pc shuts off entirely.

I updated my BIOS and did any available graphics updates and set my fans to try to avoid an overheating issue, but it still crashes as soon as I leave the Oracle.
Specs:

• Ryzen9 7900X
• Radeon RX 7900XT
• 32GB RAM

I can't keep testing this because I work from home and can't destroy my computer to test a game. :/

Upon further reading it appears that I shouldn't even have this option for a tail this early, so is that why my computer keeps crashing? I am very worried that it is going to do permanent damage to my pc if I keep trying to pick a tail and crash my pc.

I picked another tail so I could continue playing. I was picking the pretty one when you're supposed to pick your first tail. Still appears to be a bug though because I shouldnt have had that option.

Hey @smoky hill, when you recorded the issue above, did you also open other apps besides Coral Island? Would you be able to record another video showing the task manager as well? 😮

Hi, you cam see which other programms i had open on my taskbar, i had discord, steam, firefox and clipping tool open. to take the video i had obs open as well as the program HWiNFO to display the information

no, I went a bit overkill with the fans in my PC because i have the Ryzen CPU and Ryzens get really hot and i want the parts to last as long as possible. With most games, just like with Coral Island without the Arcana Tail games usually are between 50-60°C

And what's your quality preset in the game for both Coral Island and other games that you usually played? 🙂

I dont play very performance demanding games, like Stardew Valley, Yakuza, Pentiment, Shadows over loathing, chants of senaar, papers please, and coral island. the one more demanding game is Sims 4 which runs awfully if you have a few packs and my temperature with the sims as well reaches max 60°C

I dont have the game installed atm but i did take a screenshot of those when i had a crash that i reported #1278442899100663910 message

for what it is worth, the performance issues are the worst in the merfolk kingdom specifically probably because the game just has to do more in that area. There was a bug that allowed me to choose the arcana tail when I first turned into a merfolk and i didnt notice a lot of performance issues because i didnt spend much time in the merfolk city, but rather in the less densly packed part of the underwater map.

it was only after i had finished the quest that allowed me to actually unlock the arcana tail that i noticed the performance issues because i tried to level up everyones friendship and as such was hanging out more in the city
