When I went to upgrade my scythe to osmium, I brought 3 osmium bars (and the hardwood) to the blacksmith. It told me I needed 5 bars. So I went back with 5 osmium bars, it took my scythel, but only used 3 bars, leaving me 2 in my inventory.

Hi! @radiant python thanks for sharing your report here! May i know what platform you are playing on? Do you have any video or screenshot of that issue?

No video or screenshot. PC/keyboard via Steam. Doesn't really need shots - what it asks for upgrading a tool to osmium and what it takes don't match. If you bring 3 osmium bars, it won't upgrade your tool. You bring 5 osmium bars and it takes your tool to upgrade but only uses 3 osmium bars.

UPDATE: It did this with the scythe, but it worked properly when upgrading my pickaxe - asked for 5 osmium bars and used all 5.

May I ask if this only happens with the scythe? If you upgrade other tools, does the issue still occur?

I am not sure. It might have happened with the hoe but I wasn't paying attention. It definitely happened with the scythe.

I noticed this too! I am not sure which tool it was, but I was going to upgrade to Osmium and didn't bring enough bars at first, so I went back home and got more. I was pretty sure I grabbed 5 in summary, but was left with 2 in the Inventory after confirming the upgrade
I didn't think of it anymore until I read this report. Was a few ingame weeks ago, so no save-file or screenshots, sorry
