I had 618 points at rank B, then earned 240 points from the animal festival but my town rank stayed at 618, I don’t get it. I also earned another 20 points for completing and errand but it is still at 618 points

merit points are just currancy. check your town rank page to know what you still need

My ocean is rank A, museum and heritage and town is rank B

My activity log shows me getting museum points for donating but that’s it

With heritage, you have to donate to the alters. With museum you need to donate bugs/ fish/ gems to the museum

you get three musuem points for every item you donate, and then there's also a bonus for completing a full collection
