I'm on Steam, using a controller. While processing fossil at the lab, I accidentally clicked on the button that picks one from the stack. However, I cannot put back that one piece that I picked up, causing me to be unablr to exit the interface. I cannot click the I'm Stuck cause I'm inside the interface.

This unfortunately is a known bug. For me, I'm on Xbox series X and if I click the X button the ONLY way to leave the area is to completely close the game and restart. They are definitely working on it though! I would provide the Build Version you're on too so they can have more information for Steam issues.

If it helps you feel better, I make this mistake Every. Single. Time. I try to process a fossil, ore, chest and almost at the end of their store hours 😭 I understand your frustration.

i was on my way back and forth to open all the fossils! hahaha but it was okay, it was all i was doing that day so restarting doesn't feel as bad

You're so lucky! And honestly, this way you can get some of the fossils you're missing by having to reroll the day 🤷🏻♀️
