I really like the hangout mechanic, but not so much from the dating perspective but more as an aspect of living in a close community. I adore the idea of getting closer to the townsfolk and becoming part of the community by interacting with it. In a community, you spend time with anyone platonically, help each other, and host little events. Do the developers have any interest in this idea, or will they stop with the datables and move on to other projects?

Yes! I have the same thought as well! I want to hang out with other NPCs, especially the kids, Jim, and Betty. After all, the current hang out mechanics already have platonic hangouts, so it wouldn't be far fetch to implement it also to non-dateable NPCs.

Yes omg! I wanna bake with her! Or maybe go for walks! It'd be especially cute if you could go for walks with her when you have a kid with your partner! Great-grandma betty!
I especially want ones with Jim and his grandkid, reminiscing about Jim's wife, maybe whilst jim shows them how to cook! I also want Waku to take his grandkid on the boat!
