Is there a divorce option asking for a friend because he is married to one character but wants to marry one of the merfolk ?

sorry to bump a slightly old post, but is this really not in development? I married a regular townsfolk before I even knew merfolk would be marraige eligible. I would love to divorce my current husband to marry Semeru

I hope the devs consider it one day because I found it really disheartening when I married Scott, was not happy how he turned out as spouse and I couldn’t just break up and date another bachelor. For the folks who don’t know how to duplicate save files (I still have to test it myself) or just can’t do it because console, this might be really unsatisfying.

This happened too me and I was already too far gone to do the backup save (there's a limit of days that can be saved as backup), I wont start again this save is 110hrs. I think this is it for me, at list until there's some kind of divorce or a way to start a game from the furthest point you reached(wich I find very unlikely to happen, due to the development issues it would cause)

if they’re not gonna add divorce then add marriage to multiple people or allow you to date while married. it’s a little careless on their part to force people to make a new file if they don’t like how the character acts in a relationship. saying this even as a player who hasn’t opted to romance anyone.

i've not even started dating someone yet, but it's because i was afraid to make permanent decisions. maybe i just forever date xD

it'd be nice of them to add the feature so people don't have to start over on 100+ hour saves. most people would probably tap out on playing anymore, honestly, if it ruins the game for them, and i don't imagine most would want to start over. i know i wouldn't.

I just reached the merpeople and I'm glad I found this out. Honestly I would be pissed if I married someone without knowing this info! I wish we had the option to marry 1 human AND 1 merfolk at least! Choosing strictly one or the other is tough!

Given that the merfolk will come stay in your farmhouse with you (at least sometimes)... That would get awkward fast.

I did it without knowing you couldn't get a divorce and I just stopped playing the game... I have 100+ hrs, I won't do this all again... It's a big thing to not mention at any point through the gameplay

My character is married to Rafael but is also girlfriend to Surya. I wish we could have the option to stay as friends 🥲 I feel like my character is cheating on her husband 😅

I don't think Rafael would be ok with a poly relationship. He already has a life of being compared to others so I doubt he'd like to be shared 😅 Tbh I don't think a few characters would be ok with it. I think it would be cool to have some characters you can poly and others you can't as it's more realistic.

That would be the most realistic (and imo best) way to tackle this, although I know from my own experience from other games that it can be really sad sometimes if you cannot date the people you want to date because not everyone wants to be in a polyamorous relationship 😅

and we know amicable divorce exists in-world (although I think it's funny we can date Suki but not Antonio XD)

as far as certain characters not being ok with poly, I think heart events showing character growth in the direction of being comfortable (not just 'ok' or 'fine') would be neat

Maybe there' a mod you could work out with it saving before you propose to someone so you could go back to that and romance someone else? ooh or a mod with the poly stuff 0/..i'm not sure how the modding works though on what is feasible and waht is not.

i agree but i think that its because antionio doesn't seem to be over suki and he talks about it often, suki not so much, but yes its a shame, also maybe because antonio doesnt stay all year around, but well, then there are the mermaids/mermen so well

but its very funny, people were mad at me about why there should be divorce in a game and just pick a good one and they are not abusing you etc when there is literally divorce in the game and im pretty sure that they are not abusive either
