Reproduction steps:
I talked to Semeru who had this line, then I talked to 2 others and they had the same line
Repro rate:
After some time, the line resets, I talk to another merfolk and the others have his line again

There is no save of this day because due to a bug I did not saved a game to repeat this day when the bug is going to be fixed.

I started the day again to see if this is a rare bug, it is not, repeatability of this bug is 100%. It's strange that only 2 other people report it.

Also have this issue on ps5. I talked to Semeru and every other male merfolk after repeats his lines. I could talk to the gals and they had normal dialogue

Simularly, I saw the repeated line happen a lot if I talked to a merfolk and then gifted something to another. Instead of a thank you quote, that mermaid would just say whatever the previous line by the other person was. So far, the royal family and romance characters have been fine. I only noticed it with the others.

I encountered the same bug, so maybe my savefiles may help.
Platform: pc (steam)
Version: 1.1 -1198
played with controller

More Informations, if I remember correctly:
I first explored the merfolk kingdom that in-game day and was on my way to the deeper part of the ocean for the first time. I really hope I did the zipfile thing correctly, its the 9th savegame and occured on day 15/16 of summer 1st year ingame (not sure which of the backup saves that is). I had to play that day twice, because I paused the game for... about 30-40 minutes and it crashed (actually, first time it crashed for me since 1.0). For my second attempt, I did quite a lot of stuff on day 15 and proceeded with the merfolk kingdom on day 16 (after saving successfully), no crashes after that. On my first attempt it dublicated the dialog for two merfolk talking outside to each other (the dialog from one repeated by the other).
On my second attempt I talked to more merfolk, it was earlyer in-game and more of them were outside. It was duplicating the last dialog line of semeru (he was in front of the guards, training I think) for 2 other merfolk people (the one with human legs and whoever he talked to, just as in my first attempt), it "fixed" itself for two other merfolk (the ones having stalls outside) (inbetween was the cutscene with Cho Oyu, where she gives access to the ocean caves), I then encountered the cutscene with Denali giving the stamina fruit, directly after that, it occured again for Agung (I don't remember whoms lines he said, but I read them shortly before, so I don't think he said his own lines).

I started a new game with the 1.1 update. It did occur, as far as I'm aware, only for merfolk, but I only talk to the NPCs I came accross naturally while running around.

Possibly similiar, queen assumes ive unlocked the tail right after fixing the tree. Obviously, Im still in the diving suit.

This is from August 1st, I had spoken to a land NPC then travelled to the merfolk kingdom and whenever I spoke to any of the merfolk this was what I got which was the dialogue from the land NPC I spoke to before diving. I play on Steam if you need any other information I will gladly provide as much as I can!

It has occurred again, and always seems like it's in the merfolk kingdom I haven't experienced it anywhere else

I also don't know what's triggering it I haven't been able to figure that out by trying to replicate it, it seems to happen randomly at least from what I can tell from playing

I am also experiencing this issue where the mermaid NPCs just repeat the same line of any major NPC (Semeru, Denali) that I'd last spoken to. I thought it was a bug associated with the day or something, but it's still occurring

I also don't know if it's related to the supposed restriction the king imposed when the merfolk kingdom became accessible? So far, I've cleansed the first part of the deep sea and the aforementioned bug is happening anyway

Hi again! I am appending to my above post that, if I speak to the non-major mermaids (like Slamet, Lanin), their dialogue boxes are entirely empty. I reloaded one of my saves, headed straight to the Merfolk Kingdom, spoke to Lanin, and her dialogue box did not contain anything. I then spoke to Slamet. Empty box.

I reloaded, spoke to Denali (had normal text), then spoke to Lanin and her dialogue box contained what Denali had last said to me. Hope this information helps!

Verifying my game files on Steam also did not help (shot in the dark in trying that)

I believe this is the save file. In-game date was Fall 21 and time was 7:00AM or so, though I'd reached the Merfolk Kingdom sometime in Summer and the dialogue was the same. I reloaded that particular save file back when I first encountered the issue. Thereafter, I did not talk to the merfolk until just yesterday thinking it was something to do with the Coral Tree not at all being healed yet. I just completed the first section of restoring the Deep Sea last night, hence me trying again.

It's also not a case of Slamet repeating Lanin's empty text because I spoke to him first in another reload to test and his text box was still empty

Ps5 ! the dialogue jannu was saying was from erika ahah, yesterday day as well after the oracle cutscene after meeting the merfolk, rysy, tahat and etna repeated the oracle’s dialogue ( it goes along the lines of “i have to go now bye-bye”) .

Chiming in to say this is still an issue (PC)
