I'm not able to introduce myself to new NPCs

I just updated my game to 1.1 -1198 and I went to the Merfolk Kingdom to see the things that were added. I was going to introduce myself to 2 NPCs (the one that sells clothes and the one that sells home decor) but it only allows me to open the stores instead of dialogues. I'm playing on my PC (steam).
