Unlocking underwater animals

I have bought the underwater barn and now I need to get the animals but I need to compete the offerings. Every time I go to one the shell is closed and I’m so confused on how to complete it? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks 🙂

If you have the quest then you do them in order with 10m (bronze kelp area) first. Finish one and it opens the next.

You will unlock the animals after finishing the 2nd area.

I’m guessing this comes after the crop quest then?

It happens simultaneously. I believe you go and see Ling to get the quest. It changed after I had opened it in beta.

@sleek hearth How does the Song of the Sea start? Is it with Ling or Cho?

Ohhh okay - yeah because I just planted my first underwater crops and I need to harvest and ship those. So if it simultaneously then it really shouldn’t matter.

So does song of the sea come after resupply merfolk kingdom quest?

@sage drift did you figure it out? similarly i just got my barn. i'm on "Resupply Merfolk Kingdom I" where i have to ship 1000 ocean crops, and i haven't gotten anything about the altars to unlock animals

i do remember walking into the lab one day and ling was talking about something that sounded like it had to do with song of the sea

Yes! After you ship out a couple crops you get a prompt from Cho (I believe I triggered this while being next to the first giant sell at 10 depth) where she talks about the giant shells and tells you how to open them (each one is an alter and you have to give certain ocean crops and kelp essence to each one) once you unlock the one at 40depth you’ll unlock two animals. You’ll have to repeat that for the next alters to unlock the rest of the animals.
