🌸 Cherry Blossom Festival GLITCHES (2)

I've reloaded and redone the cherry blossom festival 7 times. First, I was following the wiki to try and get a loved reaction, then it turns out the wiki is just... wrong. A ton of stuff on the list get neutral or disliked reactions... which is annoying, but not a glitch. Anyways, I decided to talk to other players and verify it with another list I found, and decided upon a GOLD TOMATO next.

BUG 1: This was year 2, I missed the festival during year 1 (the merit system is already established, I saw the scene with Millie in the community center in year 1) and yet, all 7 times I redid the festival, the merit system cut scene with Millie played after starting the festival.

BUG 2: Since I wasn't sure if the gold tomato would actually secure me the loved reaction, I did a trial run. I skipped talking to ppl, skipped the mini game/shop and went right to the hot pot to test it. I put the gold tomato in, then clicked START MAIN EVENT. Nothing happened. No cut scene, no crash, not teleported back to farm... the festival was the same. Confused, I clicked the hot pot again and got this message: "The festival is already ended." I didn't get the cut scene, nor did I get teleported home at night like when the festival REALLY ends, nothing. I wondered if maybe jumping to the hot pot scene right after 9am without doing anything triggered a glitch, so I reloaded:

My latest attempt: completed all farm tasks, showed up with my GOLD TOMATO, skipped the duped merit cut scene, spoke to everyone, won 1st place in race minigame after boosting stamina, and bought everything I wanted in the shop. Finally, I dropped the gold tomato in the pot. I got the message telling me I put the tomato in, and then...! Nothing. AGAIN.

Seems like my only options are to get a neutral/bad reaction OR not get the main event at all and leave early. I am speculating that it's the LOVED reaction that is bugged.

I speculated that the LOVED reaction is bugged because I've gotten the taste test scene before, but haven't gotten a LOVED reaction. I think both times that I was supposed to get the LOVED reaction, the scene glitched and "ended" the event. My only option now is to manually leave the festival before its "officially" over, and I don't know what that will mean for my merit points tomorrow. I stopped playing after this happened so I have no update on what happened with dialogue in the town post-festival.

Also, I'm playing on the STEAM DECK. This character limit made things really difficult for me 💀

Can you also send us your save file and backups? You can copy-paste this file path into your Windows Explorer: %localappdata%\ProjectCoral\Saved and zip the SaveGames into one file, then drop them here! 😉

The love reaction is only my guess, I don't know for certain - I seem to get neutral and bad reactions just fine, and I read on a list from some players that gold quality tomato would get a love react so I wanted to try it. Unfortunately I have never been able to see the cutscene for the gold tomato, nor any love react. I'm going to try another type of ingredient the next time the festival comes around, but that's a year away now... and after this frustrating play I decided to take a bit of a break.

Also, I don't think my save will be helpful to you... again, I'm playing on the Steam Deck, you cannot have multiple save files. You play on the same file and when you sleep it saves over it. There's no option to select a save spot, so after you sleep you cannot redo a day again. It's been VERY frustrating, because I've missed the tree planting festival 2 years in a row, I realize after I wake up and check the calendar but by the time I notice I CANNOT LOAD A PREVIOUS SAVE to fix my mistake... so I literally have to play an entire THIRD YEAR just to go to the second festival of the game.

These glitches combined with the extremely limiting single-save file made me put down the game and step away for the first time since I started playing. I guess I can get my laptop and find my save file and send that to you but I don't know what that will accomplish if you can't replicate the festival on my file.

Also, I should say: while I was the first person to point this out on the discord, this is actually a big problem involving a lot of people - you can find other reports about the buggy CB festival off of discord, on places like reddit. I'm not sure if the dev team checks these but there's a lot.

I just completed the cherry blossom festival and noticed that there is no pamphlet to let players know what activities there are

I also saw the "The festival is already ended" after I tried to start the main event.

Adding my full experience because I found a potential work around.

My first attempt at the festival year 1, went smoothly. However my item selected for the potluck got a negative response so I quit to title screen and reloaded. From there, I must have triggered this bug, because I could not get a cutscene no matter what item I donated to the pot luck. I will also say I noticed a few other weird things beginning when I reloaded, like bugs not spawning and only the weather channel showing up (In my first and last attempt there were 3 channels and bugs were spawning)

So for my final attempt I closed the game completely, and reloaded my save file. Went through the day as usual and managed to get the cutscene again with a new item. (I donated a regular shiitake mushroom and got an "okay" review.

In both the last and first attempts I also submitted my items BEFORE doing the sack race. and then following the sack race I started the main event. I have no idea if that is relevant to the cutscene triggering more so than relaunching the game, but I figured I'd include that detail as well.

Interested to see if either of these works for anyone else!
