ocean caves

This question was asked once before but didn't get a full answer.

Are the ocean caves just an endless series of rooms to farm trash, coffers, and kelp, or are there unique items to find?

Are there patterns that need to be followed, like a puzzle? Or is it just farm til a door opens and go through them randomly?

Not entirely endless, you'll eventually run out of rooms, but it takes most of the day.

There are no special items, no patterns. Each cave has one specific coffer that will spawn in them, making it easier to get artifacts you still need.
