Sorry if this has been asked, please link to the post, I switched to beta in hopes of using my existing save but its not there, is it possible to update my save or only start new game? (new to discord servers like this so apologies in advanced if not doing this right)

No, you cannot use your main branch save in beta, they are essentially two different games. Also, the point of beta is to test the game, so they want you to use clean saves.
