Missed a heart event?

So...lately I've just realized that Macy had a few heart events that I was supposed to be around for...if I missed the first one, does that mean that I basically cannot procede with any of the others or a romance with the character?

Nope. You can trigger them at any time unless they says "can't trigger between this date" which is usually just during the winter festival
