I'm in the late game, trying to wrap up some collections and geodes seem next to impossible to get. I can get fossils and coffers all day. I even read on Steam that the rare drop enchantment was bugged on the pickaxe, not sure if it is true, but I removed it and I'm still getting next no geodes - we're talking 2-3 on average per day. Compared to dozens of fossils and coffers.
Is this normal?

It's not bugged.
Rare drop + extra drop + hit drop
And then dynamic mining is a thing so the deeper you go the more you get (water rate is awful)
BUT 1.1 has a new cave with LOTS of drops if you want to just wait for that

Maybe it was because I was in Water... Though Fire felt even worse. I'm on Xbox so I've a bit to wait for 1.1.

I also recommend slowly building a stock of geodes and when you have about 20 of a type doing minimal things in the morning then going to crack them open and if you don't get at least 2 missing gems, reloading the day without saving and trying again. I found it a real sanity saver trying to find those legendary fossils in the last few days to complete the museum before the update comes.
