Will there ever be a point in the games development, where we will be able to save manually? Having to play through an entire day can be so tedious. Often there are times where I have to leave my pc on for hour because of work or just personal stuff throughout the day. Due to in game reasons like certain fish or insects only spawning in certain seasons, weather, and rarity of the weather, I am unble to turn my pc off or I'll have to replay the entire day just to get a chance at getting the creature. There are many other reasons, but I don't want to go on for too long.
#Manual Save Option

Unfortunately, save systems are difficult to create, and right now, the entire game depends on and uses the night time save as a 'check' for multiple quests and other such events - they only progress when the game saves.
The chances of manual saves are very low indeed.
The game is designed to be saved when you sleep just like any other farming sim I've ever played (most compare this game to Stardew Valley but this also happens for Rune Factory). The devs will not change this function of the save feature, ever.
This is a real shame. Coral island is my first farming sim, and although my time at sandrock isn't a farming sim, having a manual save is so sorely missed. Saying "this is standard," shouldn't be an excuse imo. This is a great and modern developed game with a very lucrative Kickstarter + active sales. It should 100% have a manual save. I understand it probably won't at this point, but really disappointing they didn't put this in at the beginning.
I actually hate the save anytime feature in Sandrock. I was convinced I'd slept when i shut down the game as that's what I am used to, but when I reopened the game it was the middle of the day and I had no idea what I was doing lol.
It's 'the standard' because these types of game unlock stuff through sleeping. Sandrock doesn't work that way, so it doesn't need to have save to sleep. They're completely different kinds of games.
I'll just agree to disagree. I don't think the devs are incapable of implementing a manual save, they're fantastically talented devs. I also don't think it wouldn't benefit the game immensely, almost every single game has a manual save function. I understand triggers, which could still function, don't put the triggers in the manual save. It's not my game, but they offered this feedback so, that's my feedback. It's a shame the game doesn't have it, it would have saved many people tons of progress from crashes, it's their choice, and that's just my opinion. 😊👍
Ok I've heard everyone out, but I still disagree with this model. I've played stardew and even they have a feature which allows you to speed up the time in game and that kind of alleviates the whole waiting system. Some times I don't want to play through the entire day, because I've progressed pretty far into the game and I can't sleep because I'm waiting for a particular time to do what I need to do.
I'm sayIng it's the devs' choice for the game to save by sleeping. They won't likely be changing it as it has been said once before that it won't be changed.
You can play around with the game time though. I play on 50%. If I’m waiting for something I speed it up to 100% then knock it back to 50%.
Where is this feature? I was looking for it being how similar it was to stardew valley, but didnt find it.
It's under settings > game time speed
You can toggle it up and down whenever you want in game
Thank you. I was looking in the wrong section.
Life requires saves! What if the phone rings or someone comes to the door? You cannot always get back to the fame conveniently to sleep and therefore loose all your progress for the day. It's frustrating. There needs to be a save function.
you can always just pause it or go to bed early. there are days I get up, take care of the animals and crops, and go back to bed for the day at 8am. They aren't going to add save any time, so we just need to figure out how to play around it.
I got here due to the unbearable random crashes. Having this feature is a much easier implementation than fixing the never ending crash reports. Games that undergo regular updates are more susceptible to instability. This much is given but not limited to game crashes. It would really be nice to offer players a more concrete solution with this feature. This also lowers the bad gaming experience of having to repeat everything done within the day, especially when you got a good haul, since festivals are almost mandatory.
I will repeat what I said back when this thread was started. Save systems are difficult to create - one of the hardest things in gaming. They do, in fact, bear a lot of weight in the code and take a lot of time to make. You are not asking the people at Stairway for a simple feature, but to rewrite a majority of the game’s code. This is something that they have already done twice - once to get it to 1.0, and again for the upcoming Multiplayer. So add the development of 1.2, the post-release panic of 1.1, and the mess that their publisher is dragging them through by the hair.
I apologise if I seem snappy, but we here in the community see this request time and again and it does grate on you a little over time, especially right now. I do not work for Stairway; I cannot and will not speak for them in an official capacity. I cannot tell you that they ever will, or that they never will. I can tell you that this is a reasonable desire, and that I sympathise, but it is not a reasonable ask.
Again, I know I seem harsh and for that I apologise but going through the same song and dance with people means usually a longstanding member of the community is either short or unintentionally rude when explaining the situation, and in my case, extremely blunt.
Thank you for your brutal and honest response. It is a testament of how you truly love the game deeply and I love it in every sense. I may be new here but I can already guarantee that you are one of the nicest person around. The world needs more people like you - someone with a good understanding and a pair of common sense. Though my words my have struck a nerve, it was never meant to downplay the effort needed in implementing features that breaks a major structure in coding. Just like rewriting a full thesis from scratch. But we also have to accept that this issue/topic will not go away until players are able to play more smoothly with progression. I dont know much about the drama inside the studio but that is beyond a players concern. We all have our own battles to fight. And with a great community like this, MODS would definitely help the devs and the game have a better player experience. Assuming that majority of the player base also played stardew valley. Again, thank you for your hard work and dedication to this great game. More blessings be unto you!
Well you’ve just made my bloody day 😆 I’ll admit I did also have the disadvantage of being on a hot bus and having two heavy bags with me at the time but I do appreciate the kind words in exchange.
I am an old school. Reality hurts and thats life. I take no offense when confronted with facts. It is a 1000x better than sugar-coated lies.
I mean I like a little bit of sugar sometimes but honesty is always appreciated.
