Fruit trees

I haven't unlocked some fruits yet, only got bananas, papaya, etc. From my understanding the tree dies at the end of the corresponding season (banana dies on fall 1). Can I chop the tree and get back a sapling? Or is there anything I can do? Because if not, it doesn't seem worth the 1,350 gold investment in some saplings, specially spring ones for year 1.

Fruit plants die at the end of two seasons. Fruit trees live forever it only fruit during one season. You can put all of them in the greenhouse for year round fruiting

the inicial ones, like banana, jackfruit, papaya, are fruit plants or fruit trees?

i notice i have to tile the dirt to plant them, and water them everyday. for the fruit trees do i also need to do that?
