Better quality jam/pickles/dehydrated goods

Hi, I'm on my first coral island save and I think I'm doing good, almost 100hrs in. Almost done with summer, started to pay more attention to using the dehydrator, mason jar, etc. I see that better quality jam (like purple star quality) sells for some value worth putting purple quality fruits on the mason jar. But I'm unsure as to how to obtain better quality artisan goods and I'm afraid to use my purple star fruits and get only base quality jam back. Can anyone explain to me how this works?

Whatever quality item you put in comes out as the same quality

So that osmium quality starfruit in a keg will make osmium quality starfruit juice

put osmium quality starfruit juice in an aging barrel and you get osmium quality starfruit wine

i was trying to find out via wiki but I couldn't find much

also, does trash keep appearing on the beach/ocean? I'm trying to clean the ocean fully before exploring the merfolk kingdom, but i'm unsure if the trash comes back

I would start talking to NPCs now before you finish cleaning the ocean because there's currently a bug where the merfolk NPCs stop talking to you once you finish the ocean quests

Trash will stll accumulate in the ocean once you activate all the beacons but at a much slower rate
