I paused the game to attend to my daughter and then moved to desktop to check Discord. When I went back I found my character can't walk forward or backwards. She can only move sideways. After she went to bed and slept, it fixed itself the next day when she woke but the next time I paused my game and switched to desktop it happened again. I tested it a few times and every time I pause and switch to desktop, this happens.
#Pausing breaks movement

Hi there @cunning zinc. Are you playing on Steam PC/Xbox PC? Can you share a video that shows the problem in action? Thanks! 😉
Eep. Hi Dinda. I'm sorry I didn't see this. Yeeeees. I'll try and get you a video soon.
Hi Dinda! Sorry for the delay on this. I - erm - forgot. Anyway, here's the video.
Same thing happened to me. I play on Steam Deck using keyboard and mouse. When I paused to help my sister, when I came back, the mouse was flashing in and out. I couldn’t move to a different tool. The numbers on the tool slot kept flashing in and out. Sometimes the interactive button would show A or B instead of Right click. I just had to start my day over 🥹
Hi @cunning zinc @quartz pebble. Thanks for the info. But this isn't a bug, this is a hidden feature we have called "strafe," where you hold the CTRL button. You can check it on the setting!
Strafe causes you not to use your tools? My toolbar keys flash in and out where I can’t change the tool or use it. The Q and R keys to change the tool to the next row only shows R on both sides and it also flashes. The only thing I can do is walk. Or hit ESC to exit out. This happens in the middle of the day. Not the beginning. It works fine until random moments after being paused for a while.
Can you share a video of the issue? 😮
Yes when I get home tonight and it occurs again.
Ah, so when I use ctrl + escape to pause, it thinks I'm using strafe? What is strafe supposed to do?
You can use it whichever you want, but some people use it to help them decorate (like placing multiple flooring or fences outside) 😄
