Interior deco mode

Hi when acessing the interior deco mode I can not place items from my the decorating mode like items I purchased but normal items that were already part of the house let me put those down. I have to take the item out of the decorating inventory and put it in my inventory then put the items in place. Seems pointless to have a deco mode or house inventory if I have to do this.
