Not able to talk to some of the merfolk (ps5)

I can talk to some of them but some of them I'm not able to talk to even if there's a prompt to talk to them it won't let me talk to them.

I think that was turned off with the last update. I’ve had the same issue, probably being worked on due to the 1.1 update contains all the merfolk content.

There’s been a lot of debate about whether it’s a bug or intentional, but it’s pretty universal that everyone stops being able to talk to the merfolk after completing all the quests

I'm having this exactly problem right now. I just finished the Cleansing of the Ocean, the Coral Tree, and now none of them want to talk to me except the Queen/King and Oracle.

Ya I just booted the game up to see any changes from like a few months ago bc I had said something about my game and my player being unable to talk to any of the merfolk except for the king and queen as well…. and it’s STILL an issue 🥴

There hasn’t been an update for it yet. They are working on bringing 1.1 out which has the merfolk storyline so it will be fixed then.
