Mason Jar and Kegs would be your best initial investment for your crops to artisan. Get the crops that grows every 4 days (for now) for faster turn over.
For the items you forage, you can easily sell those for now for faster money.
ik this will sound like latin probably but take it from a person who speed run getting married (1st of fall of year 1) if u expand your farming area and do the math to get exact amount of seeds per growth. if ur starting off bran new save. grow stuff that will grow fast but not reuseable seeds (yet) as u sell the crop and ur able to expand as u get almost double ur money per planting(sometimes). by the end of spring if done right u should have about 30 if u didn't upgrade anything. now u go for the hot peppers grow 7 days the first time then every 4 days after that and by that time u should have somwhere around a 40 by 40 plot of land u can farm. this is just how i did so do with it as u will
sorry if this is late
Basically first year is sell EVERYTHING. You'll get enough in time to get rolling. There are also New Game+ save files lurking somewhere in the discord.
I'll put in a good word for ranching. I think the start-up overhead dissuades folks, but once you get it going it runs itself. Animals are the ultimate renewable crop 🙂.
Also, in my experience you only need to hoard one of anything you grow, and can keep the lowest quality example. That's enough for random errands and quests.
Keep 3 of everything because sometimes errands and quests ask for things that take to long to grow.
