#saved file deleted when I went to load game

I opened the game on Xbox series X, and my saved file with 87 hours on it is gone… I’ve uninstalled the game, reinstalled, tried to see if I could get a prompt to reload a saved file.. nothing. I’m devastated, I truly love this game and enjoy it but I don’t have the time to replay the entire game from scratch 😦 is there any fix to this?

I see the game file saved on my Xbox but it’s just not connecting to the game if that makes sense.

Currently, the teams are investigating more on this issue and fixing it. We will definitely reach out to you again if we have news from the teams. We will also work to improve our save file system so this doesn't happen again in the future 🙇‍♀️

I assume there’s nothing I can do until there’s an update ? I really enjoy the game! This is the only bug I’ve encountered thankfully, just sucks it’s a HUGE bug 😭

Yes, and I'm truly sorry about this. I know how frustrating this must be 🥲

For now, the teams are working hard to fix this issue. Hopefully, it can be resolved soon. But if you really want to play now, you can start a new game, as it will create a separate file from your missing save file 🙇‍♀️

I'm so sad to see this is still happening to people. I lost my save file (70ish hours) around Christmas. I started a new save file, but then stopped after about 15 minutes because it just wasn't appealing to re-do everything I'd already done. Maybe I'll try it again if there ever stop being posts like this one in this forum.

My mom just lost a 300+ hour save file. She turned the game on to play, poof- nothing to load. 😒

It's even more frustrating to be told to just start over. Like all the hard work put into building up the relationships and farm are just "whatever". Like it means nothing to be 300+ hours in! Just start over is a slap in the face to an issue that's been going on since last November!

Yeah I’m super not happy about it 😦 it’s so annoying because I seeeee the saved file on my Xbox, it’s there. But it’s not connecting for some damn reason. I can’t tell you how upsetting it is to lose all that work 😦 And I really liked the game. I hope there’s a fix for it asap. But I’m not touching it until it’s fixed

There was a hot fix posted on Reddit, was supposed to show backups.. it didn’t work for me 😦

I've tried a few off the web too with nothing working. I've gotten more help from others than the actual devs unfortunately. An email to stairway about the file being unreachable lead me to emailing Microsoft "because they're the ones who hold the back up". They either say it's corrupted and lost forever or send you back to the makers of the game. I lost mine months ago and JUST started over after missing it.

Just today I was playing with no issues and all was good and then I log back in after a break and there's met folk on my calendar and double birthdays too. I'll be waiting 'till it's fixed I guess…

Yeah If I can’t get my game back I’m not playing it… it’s a shame because I do love the game. But I’m not putting more time into it sadly. It’s just not worth the hours for it to be lost forever 😦 it was fun!

I totally get it. I refused to play for months after losing a second save. It really sucks seeing everyone make all this progress and I'm over here looking sideways because I can't even get that past year two. Lost two saves already. On my third now. It's so frustrating.

Hopefully you haven't paid for it and are just on game pass. Kinda secretly holding out hope a "patch" fixes it though. All the saves come back and everyone has their work returned to them.

If I paid for it I’d be even more mad, thankfully I just play on game pass! I’d buy it if there weren’t big issues like this!
I don’t know how you have the patience to do many saves! Im so mad about it ahah I really hope they fix the issue honestly. It’s fun, and I really want to continue my file and play again. Im not holding my breathe sadly

And I don't blame you! Sorry to hear it as I've been in the same spot and wouldn't wish it on anyone. It's no comfort knowing you're not alone but it is what it is I guess.

In setting way at the bottom

Activate and then go to start your day and off to the left is a box to check for showing backups

It looks like mine has two days saves worth. Worth a try to see if yours pops back up.

Mine from months ago are gone but maybe there's hope for yours!

When I did the show back up in settings and then to the left show backup nothing was there just said “new game” I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled too! 😦 it didn’t work

Have you tried to uninstall and play on the cloud? That was a web fox I found that worked for a few people. Not me, but others.

Something about pulling it all from the cloud instead of saving it to your internal storage.

Hello @unreal nest. I'm really sorry about this missing save file issue 🙁 We've released the latest hotfix to show the backup of save files, but sadly some of the save file are still missing. Don't worry, the teams are still working on it! 🙇‍♀️

Have you tried creating a new save file, finish creating a character, and then going back to the menu to see if your backup is the old save file you have? 😮
